Sailed at Hove to get the better angle on this wind. Arrived to sun, whitecaps and solid swell. Fairly hefty shorebreak, but reasonable gap between the bigger sets to be able to run out and away. Sailed with 5.0m on waveboard and planed off the beach. Waves were in the chest to head high range with wind from the side with a hint of off. 6 foot faces and cleaning up for downwind swoops and cut backs from way out the back. Tide was a bit high for the inside wave to be opening up, plus you didnt want to get caught in the lighter winds. Wished I'd picked the floatier board at times when lulls came through, but once on a wave there was plenty of power. Highlight of the session was getting on the face of a huge set wave. If the tide had been lower it might have reeled down the line but it was still good for riding, connecting the sections as they steepened up to near-vertical without actually breaking. I would guess a 10 foot tall face.

Return to the shore at 11am was more hairy with a bigger shorebreak than before! Managed to find a gust to get me inside but found myself approaching the pebbles with 6 foot of wave rearing up besides me, so let that one through, but then got stuck behind the exploding whitewater with no power. Shallow enough to get my feet down and dig in, but could only brace for the impact of the next one! Thankfully this one swept me up the beach with kit.
